1. McCarthyism
Give a full description defining McCarthyism and the Red Scare. Who was McCarthy? What happened in Hollywood during this time? What is the legacy of McCarthy? 200-300 words.
2. Interview
Second Article
Read an article and interview with Linnda Caporael. Consider information in the second article on the trials. What do you think of Caporael's theories? Can they adequately explain the hysteria in Salem. What other forces could have been at work? 600 words.
3. Interactive Article
Open the link above. (Using Internet Explorer may cause it to crash-- use Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari)
-Using the "Text Background" tool in the middle of the toolbar, choose a color that has not yet been chosen by one of your classmates.
-Highlight with the "Text Background" three passages that you find interesting through out the article. No more than one sentence each. You may not highlight over your peer's work. Choose a different passage.
-Finally, in the upper right hand corner, click the "Comments" box. Leave the following information in your comment:
